Dr Philip Tong


Dr Philip Tong is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists after completing his dermatology specialist training in NSW as the inaugural Dean’s Fellow in Dermatology, a joint initiative with The University of Sydney. During this time, he underwent world class-research and dermatology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, and Westmead Hospitals where he also completed his PhD in 2015 in advanced biomedical imaging and skin immunology.

Prior to obtaining his specialist qualifications, he also received training in dermatology departments in Perth, Melbourne as well as in London at the world-renowned St John’s Institute of Dermatology at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital.

Dr Tong is the Clinical Lead of the Skin Imaging and Inflammation Group and supervises medical research at the Centenary Institute. His research program has a number of international collaborations in Denmark, Singapore, Hong Kong and the United States.


He is interested in translational and clinical research as well as investigator on a number of
clinical trials. He is also Deputy Co-Chair of the Research Committee at The Skin Hospital.

We are a state-wide referral center for assessment and management of difficult pigment lesions and melanoma.
